YAS4US sessions are typically from 90 minutes to 3 hours in length, guided by a facilitation team to hold the integrity of the space and rhythm of the session without over-directing or controlling its content.
The gatherings move within an energetic Field: a living Torus. Everyone in the Field shares responsibility for their attention and engagement, and their capability to hold a steady presence ensures the space within is capable of containing the depth of what unfolds. Shaping the inside of this Field is the Crucible, a set circle of participants who form the inner surface of the Torus.
Within the center of the Crucible is the open and spacious Eye, grounded by the Asase mat, where Players step forward with their Offerings. As with hurricanes, the Eye at their center is a quiet and almost surreal "Cone of Silence" where a Player can bring forth what feels most alive.
The Eye also evokes vision: a place of seeing and being seen, of turning inward and outward at once. Stepping into the Eye can stir a wide spectrum of emotions, including nervousness, playfulness, and relief. This is natural as YAS4US is meant to hold the full range of experience with care.
And as our Field grows with compounding individual expressions of "me," something at a meta level can happen, where another "I" seems to emanate from the center, and we sense the larger elusive "Collective I" of our community.
The flow of the gathering unfolds through a rhythm of Offerings. With the Facilitators' guidance, Players are called into the Eye one at a time to bring something forward: vulnerable, playful, raw, conflicted, or unfinished. Anyone in the Field, including members of the Facilitation team and others seated in the Crucible, may be invited to take the role of Player. An Offering does not need to resolve into a tidy conclusion; it is simply what stirs beneath the surface in the moment.
Once an Offering is completed, the Facilitators, with the Player's consent, may invite Reflections. These are not judgments or advice, commentary or analysis, but sharings of what others received: short and resonant, a verbal response, unspoken movement, a sound, pose or gesture, awakened in them by the Player's Offering. The intent is that these sharings accessorize the Offering, rather than snatch the energy into new self-focused mini-offerings.
This practice is central to YAS4US, allowing the community to integrate how the Offering touches them while the Player receives the gift of seeing themselves from other perspectives, and in doing so bringing both the Player and the community into connection and deeper understanding.
The rhythm of this continues. As Players step into the Eye with their Offerings and Reflections are invited in return, with participants moving fluidly between roles. The Facilitators guide the flow, inviting each Offering when the space is ready, and eventually drawing the session toward closure. Sessions usually end with a collective acknowledgment and gratitude for what has been shared and witnessed.
